Academic Support

The Academic Manager and all the teachers are dedicated to helping students achieve their English language learning goals. Students are able to speak to their teachers during and after lessons and Excel’s staff organise regular private meetings with students’ main teacher so they can discuss their progress and ways in which they can help themselves learn more quickly. The Academic Manager is also available to help students decide on examinations and give advice on their programme of study.

General English and examination English

Students can:
• Chose to study for either 21 hours or 15 hours per week
• Start any Monday unless Cambridge examination course which has a set start date
• Enrol for as many weeks as students want
• Combine different courses to create students’ own individual study plan
Excel gives students:
• 60 minute teaching hours
• A maximum class size of 15 students with an average of 8 – 10 students per class year round
• Regular homework and private meetings with teachers to discuss students’ progress
• Full support to achieve your goals

Course name Description
Intensive English – 15 hour course • 3 hours of General English per day, Monday to Friday, studying all aspects of English language.
• Available: January – June and September - December
Super Intensive – 21 hour general English and examination course • 21 hours per week include 15 hours of general English.  Students practise all the language skills with a mixture of speaking, listening, pronunciation, reading, vocabulary building, writing and grammar.  
• This course can be combined with some weeks of IELTS or Cambridge Examination Preparation.
One to One Lessons
• Extra individual lessons to supplement your 15 or 21 hour course.
• Individual sessions may be used to work on specific language skills, specialist vocabulary and techniques, or examination preparation.
• Available year round
Summer Courses
15 hour Vacation English course – the course includes many social activities as well as 15 hours per week of general English.
30 hour Double Intensive English – all day summer course helps student make maximum progress in the shortest time.
